
Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Marc LeBlanc, CD, was born in Montreal on June 19, 1963. He enlisted as an officer-cadet in the Royal Canadian Hussars (Montreal) (hereafter RCH)on March 1, 1984.
The following year, 1985, he graduated from armoured corps training at the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School located at CFB Gagetown’s Combat Training Centre. He returned to the Armoured School as an instructor on the RESO I and II course in the summer of 1986. From September 1993 to July 1994, he completed his Militia Staff Course in Kingston. As well, he graduated from the Joint Reserve Command and Staff Course during the summer of 2004 at the Canadian Forces Staff College in Toronto.
During his military career, he held several positions within the regiment, including recruiting officer, troop leader, squadron training officer, regimental operations officer, officer commanding C squadron and deputy commanding officer. During the ice storm of 1998, he commanded a composite sub-unit comprising 110 soldiers from the RCH and 2 RCA. During a two week period, this sub-unit provided assistance to the communities of Lasalle, Saint-Amable and in the township of Acton. He was promoted to lieutenant-colonel in 2001 and was appointed as the commanding officer of the RCH and held this position until 2005. During which time the unit was converted to the armoured reconnaissance role and received its second guidon. He retired from the Canadian Forces at the end of his command term.
He graduated in 1987 from McGill University with a Bachelor in Mathematics and completed in 2008 a short program in project management from l’Université du Québec à Montréal. In parallel with this busy military career, he was employed by several world-renowned companies such as Lotus Development, Siebel, Oracle, CGI and ServiceNow.
Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel LeBlanc is currently the Vice-President of the Montreal Cavalry Institute (MCI). This non-profit organization aims to inform the community about the personal and collective experiences of soldiers and veterans who served in various wars or missions. The MCI achieves this by publishing books and other types of documents or media.
Honoury Lieutenant-Colonel LeBlanc has been married to Anne-Marie Lavigueur since 2008 and has three children: Amanda, David and Elisabeth. Retired from his civilian occupation since March 2021, he lives in Saint-Colomban and indulges in many of his passions, including woodworking and volunteering at the local municipal community support centre, where he is also an administrator.
