The Montreal Cavalry Institute

Shopping Policy for the On-line Book Shop

The following terms and conditions apply for online shopping the Montreal Cavalry Institute’s Book Store.

Order processing service

The on-line processing of orders sent to the Institute’s Book Store is a service provided to active and former members of the Royal Canadian Hussars.  Other customers are welcome to use the service, on the condition they accept these terms of service.

The Book Store is operated by volunteers and part-time staff who process transactions according to an irregular schedule, when they have time.  The Institute does not guarantee any level of service and is not responsible for the ultimate delivery of goods by Canada Post.

Contact information and opening hours

The Institute does not operate a physical store and does it have physical offices.  Its correspondence address is:

The Montreal Cavalry Institute

Care of Steven Barrette, Secretary

652 Westluke Cote St-Luc,

Quebec. H4X 1P7

Arrangements to pick-up merchandise are by appointment only and must be coordinated in advance by contacting the President or Secretary of the Institute.  Contact information is provided on the Institute pages of the RCH Association website.

Order Confirmation, Modification or Cancellation

By submitting your order on this website, you are confirming your intent to purchase products under the conditions described on the site.

Orders already shipped cannot be modified or canceled.

If you wish to modify or cancel an order that has not been shipped, please contact the President or Secretary of the Institute as soon as possible.

Stock availability

Up until the books are printed, advance orders are accepted for subsequent processing.

Once books are printed, orders are only accepted if books are available in stock.  No back orders are accepted.

Shipping Policy

Since shipments are made by volunteers, there are times when shipments cannot be made promptly.  Under normal circumstances, if stock is available, the staff will aim to ship orders within fifteen to thirty days.

You can choose the shipping option ‘Pick-up Delivery’ or by mail. In the first case, no shipping costs will be charged, and the Institute will contact you to notify you of the book’s availability and to make a delivery arrangement. Preferably, these deliveries will be organized to coincide with events at the armoury.

If you choose a mail shipment, the site will calculate and charge in advance the shipping costs according to a Canada Post calculation service based on the weight and size criteria of the book.

The delivery address must be clearly indicated to avoid any shipping problem. Please note that no delivery will be made to a post office box, transportation center, remote location, or locations outside of Canada. No express shipping is possible. For large quantities or special or international shipments, please contact us directly by e-mail, rather than entering your order into the system.

Return Policy

For an exchange or refund, the product must be returned to the Institute’s correspondence address in its original condition within 30 days of the date of purchase and by prior written notice.  To obtain a written approval for a return, please contact the president or secretary of the Institute directly. Delivery charges for the return are not refundable.

Please include a copy of your original invoice in your package.

You can return the item by the courier service of your choice, for which you have prepaid the delivery charges, to the above-mentioned postal address

Pricing and administrative charges

Generally, all items are sold at cost recovery prices.

Pricing shown on the website is only valid for items that are currently in stock.

For orders paid by credit card, an administrative charge of 5% is included in the price of each item to cover the fees charged by credit card companies and other costs related to on-line ordering.  There is no administrative charge for payments made by cheque.

Method of Payment

For your order to be shipped, full payment of the order, including any applicable delivery charges, is required.

Using a third-party payment processing company, the Institute accepts payments using major credit card such as Visa, or MasterCard.

For security reasons, no banking information will be accepted by phone or email.

When a credit card payment is made, the information (name, address and phone number) entered at the time of billing must be the same as the information on your credit card statement.

Financial limit on Transactions

No order for more than $2,000 will be processed using this website.  All orders will be subject to a processing delay to allow transaction to be cleared.

Sales Tax

The Book Store will charge applicable federal and provincial sales tax on all sales transactions.

Privacy Policy

The information collected during the order procedure will be used to process the order and to produce internal statistics.  Credit card information will be used by a third-party payment processing service.

The Institute is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information provided by the users of this service, in compliance with the Privacy Act (L.R.C. 1985, cP-21).
