The mission of the Royal Canadian Hussars (Montreal) is to enhance the war deterrence capability of the Canadian Forces and to support the Regular Force in ongoing peacetime tasks – including periodic operational deployments, peacekeeping and aid to civil power operations.

The regimental Senate provides guidance and advice to the Commanding Officer (CO) on all non-operational aspects of Regimental life while the Montréal Cavalry Institute focuses on providing support for projects aimed at documenting and preserving cavalry and armoured traditions and customs. It also supports projects beneficial to the Regiment and the Association.
