Chief Warrant Officer Alexander Cyr, CD

Master Warrant Officer Alexandre Cyr joined the Canadian Armed Forces reserves on September 21st, 1999, as an armoured crew member with the Royal Canadian Hussars in Montreal. After completion of basic training in Longue-Pointe and QL3 in Valcartier, he was posted to B Squadron RCH as a member of the reconnaissance troop.

During his 25 years of service, he has served at all rank levels with the RCH from trooper to unit training sergeant major. In addition to his regimental employment, his postings have included: 20 summers of service to the 2nd Canadian Division Training Center as a support staff, instructor, course warrant, Company and Squadron Sergeant Major and Instruction Standards Evaluator. He has worked over 18 years to the 34 Brigade Battle School as instructor, course warrant, armoured subject matter expert and Drill Sergeant-Major. Overall, he has contributed to over 60 serials and 17 different trade, driver and leadership courses including the new experiential based courses.

CWO Cyr has been deployed twice on domestic operations. His deployments include OP LENTUS (2019) as operations coordinator with the Montreal Fire Department Headquarters and OP LASER (2021) as Company Sergeant-Major.

CWO Cyr received the Canadian Army Commander’s Commendation twice for deeds performed in 2004 and 2013.

He is married to Heidi Hoege and they have a daughter Alexandra and a son Cedric.
