Guidons are of crimson silk damask, embroidered and fringed with gold. Tassels and cords are of crimson silk and gold cord mixed. They are 105 centimeters flying to the ends of the points of the swallowtails and 69 centimeters deep on the lance, exclusive of the fringe, which is 5 centimeters in length. The upper and lower corners of the guidon are rounded off at 30 centimeters from the end. The point of the slit is equidistant from the upper and lower edges. The width of the slit at the point of the swallowtails is 34 centimeters.
The guidon of the unit bears, the regimental title in letters of gold on a crimson circle (THE ROYAL CANADIAN HUSSARS MONTREAL), in the centre of a wreath of autumnal tinted maple leaves ensigned with the Crown, and, within the circle, crest of the unit. The guidons of armour regiments, which formerly were cavalry, contain the White Horse of Hanover on a green mount on a crimson ground within a scroll in the first and fourth quarters. The abbreviated title of the regiment on a ground of the colour of the facings (white or buff) of the regiment is placed in the second and third quarters within a wreath of autumnal tinted maple leaves. Twenty-one Battle Honours are also borne on the guidon.
Since 1958, the RCH has received two guidons. The RCH perpetuates the Royal Montreal Cavalry that was presented with a guidon by his Excellency the Governor General the Earl of Dalhousie on Waterloo Day in 1828.
DEFENCE OF CANADA 1812 TO 1815 – For the Canadian Light Dragoons This Battle Honour is emblazonable, however not on the current guidon.
